My Family Portrait

Portraying a different kind of family portrait as compared to the conventional grouping-in-close-together type. We all enjoyed the shoot today, and greatly appreciate the assistance rendered by William and Joan.

Si Manja Photography Contest

This is Ethan's photo that won the Merit Prize (Studio Category) in the recently concluded The Federation of Commercial Photographic Society of Malaysia "Si Manja" Photography Contest.

Clean Shots

Having more time now, we brought Ethan to the studio to do some family-get-together shoot.

Shadow Play

This is an ancient cloth-iron which was used by my mom (bought by my dad). Being free at home, I cleaned it up a little for this photo shoot.

In this picture, I'd placed the iron on my glass table top (for reflection purpose) and taking it from a high up angle with a strobe to the left of my camera. To bring out the iron from the background, I placed another strobe light behind and to the right of the iron, thereby creating a 3d effect.

For this take, I also used 2 strobe lighting and a reflector and 2 pieces of white cardboard to create a light-tent effect (those used for product photography). The main strobe is again placed on the left of my cam, with the reflector on the opposite (pointing to the front of the iron) to fill away the shadow, with the iron sitting on top of the white cardboard. As my house does not have any white wall, I used the 2nd strobe at full power to blow out my wall to create the white background in this pic.

My Studio Piece

Recently, my sister and her family from Melbourne visited us and I took them to my studio to be my guinea pigs for my studio shots. Here are the pictures of my sister, my brother-in-law and their two wonderful girls. Ethan took part in the photo session too.

Studio Photography

I had been really busy for the last 2-months with the setting up of our photography studio. As all 3 of us are new with Studio Photography, we literally have to ask around and did a lot of research here and there. After working on it for more than 2 months, I am just glad that we managed to get the studio set up and ready to go. Here are some test shots from a 50mm lens on a Canon 40D taken with our lighting set.
