Playing with Photoshop

Had this done a couple of days ago. Pictures were taken with the cam sitting on a tripod and was manipulated with photoshop to create the results below. Things to watch out for is the camera settings, light source and especially the exposure.

Shadow Play

This is an ancient cloth-iron which was used by my mom (bought by my dad). Being free at home, I cleaned it up a little for this photo shoot.

In this picture, I'd placed the iron on my glass table top (for reflection purpose) and taking it from a high up angle with a strobe to the left of my camera. To bring out the iron from the background, I placed another strobe light behind and to the right of the iron, thereby creating a 3d effect.

For this take, I also used 2 strobe lighting and a reflector and 2 pieces of white cardboard to create a light-tent effect (those used for product photography). The main strobe is again placed on the left of my cam, with the reflector on the opposite (pointing to the front of the iron) to fill away the shadow, with the iron sitting on top of the white cardboard. As my house does not have any white wall, I used the 2nd strobe at full power to blow out my wall to create the white background in this pic.

Harvest @ Stutong Park

Today's outing at Stutong Park was fruitful. There were tonnes of mushroom sprouting around, managed to capture pictures of a spider and also an unidentified species of spiky worm (its body looks like those green fungus growing on trees when viewed with our naked eyes).

8-Hours Work

From Santubong to Kuching Town were the places we covered on a Sunday, February 15 2009. We managed to photograph the sunrise at Santubong Bridge. Though we were initially at Kampung Buntal, but because it was pretty cloudy, we had to shift our destination back to the bridge. From there, we proceeded to the Main Bazaar where we had our breakfast and did a walk-around at the bazaar covering the streets, shops, people and temple.

Swimming Lesson Number 1

Ethan went swimming with his dad. Other than the coughs from gulping a couple mouthful of the pool water, he seemed to be enjoying himself. All the shots were taken in the evening on our first day at Damai Beach Resort, except for the last two which were shot the next morning.

Lucky Baby

Ethan won the 1st prize for the Wyeth Consumers Display Contest. The prize ceremony was held on the 7th February 2009. He's not only a happy baby always smiling for everyone, he's also a lucky baby.

Happy Chinese New Year 2009

Ethan celebrating his first Chinese New Year. In the last couple of days, he's learned to sit up on his own. He's progressing fairly nicely but has yet to call me "mummy", "ma", "ibu", "mother" or "whatnot". However, he has already been calling out to his dad, "papa". I wish it was the other way around but am not complaining because looking at him makes my heart melt, every time.
